GRE年度报告数据统计显示，2018年7月-2019年6月中国考生人数依然呈现出较大增幅，为74569人，比上一个年度增加5867人，是世界第二大GRE考生来源国。

随着越来越多的院校对考试项目放宽，接受考生选择用GRE成绩申请；再加上留学生人数的增多，中国GRE考生人数逐年增长，竞争压力也随之增加。
