在1990年的时候，有一首名为 “wind of change” 的摇滚歌曲曾风靡全球，歌曲的演唱者是德国最具世界知名度的乐队——scorpions。乐队在70年代初就成立，一直以凌厉的双吉他演奏和主唱嘹亮的高音而闻名乐坛，并且三十年不变的坚守着流行重金属路线，尽管在近期作品中加入了时下流行的电子舞曲成分，但始终还是离不开重金属这条主线，我们在奇怪他们顽固不化的同时，不尽也对他们的这种执着精神致敬。
他们就是世界上流行时间最长，最具影响力的金属摇滚乐队先锋正是来自德国的scorpions(蝎子)乐队。他们的各张专辑已在世界范围内卖出了超过两千万张并且有一大把的打榜金曲。乐队成立于1968年，毫无疑问，scorpions是整个欧洲大陆最负影响力的乐队之一。但他们又有着其它著名乐队所没有的经历——1989年他们世界巡回演出甚至到达了苏维埃时期的莫斯科，更因为单曲“wind of change”受到了苏联元首戈尔巴乔夫在克里姆林宫的亲切接见，这是第一支也是唯一一支受到苏联领导人接见的乐队。
成军已达36年的scorpions，特点在于将流行乐中悦耳的音调、即兴的重复巧妙运用于自己的作品之中。放眼当今乐坛，在资历上能跟他们平起平坐者，似乎已寥寥无几，他们一贯的重型摇滚/重金属曲风也早已经为他们创下了不可胜数的汗马功劳。包括“in trance”、“lovedrive”、“blackout”、“love at first thing”、“crazy world”等开创性专辑，更不知影响了多少后进的摇滚乐团，当中团员michael schenker所另组的msg，更在80年代开创了全新的摇滚王朝，连black sabbath的ozzy osbourne和metallica、def leppard都自言scorpions是他们最喜爱的摇滚团体。
