Using social media for giveaways is a great way to get your brand out there to current noncustomers. Make stipulations such as “Must follow, comment, and share this post with one friend to be eligible.”then pick a winner. If Flatlands did a giveaway on a specific small bag of coffee, they would be able to showcase their products to all on social media Personally, I know when I see products being offered in a giveaway I will sign up for the giveaway and then do research on the product itself. Then regardless of if I win the giveaway, I will end up buying the product anyways!
By doing giveaways, you are going to increase the engagement on your post by a dramatic amount. On top of that engagement, people are likely to learn a little bit about your product as well and with that there is a high probability, they will become a customer. Further, the positives do not stop once the giveaway is over. Many times, the person or persons who win will share a post about winning. This is creating even more conversation/views on your products which is a positive.
One suggestion I read in an article that explains “successful giveaways” is to have less expensive products on the giveaway and more winners. Further, if Flatlands did a “Giveaway” on one free coffee you redeem at their store, you could have 5-10 winners. These winners would be forced to then visit the store, and they are likely to bring a friend or two with them. On top of that, they may buy more product since they are already there. This could create customer retention so they positive effect from the giveaway doesn’t stop!.

When doing these giveaways, I also feel it is important to highlight the product itself. Do not just use words on the post. Include a photo of the actual products they have a chance of winning in the post. This will do a couple of positive things for you.
First, even people who do not win or participate will see the actual photo of your products which increases exposure.
Second, people are much more likely to read the giveaway/participate if they have an actual visual representation of what they could possibly win from entering.
For Flatlands, highlight your bestselling bag of coffee or most ordered drinks. This would get people interested in reading more about the giveaway because they see a tangible product they could win.
An example of what I am talking about is below with RXbars. The giveaway was for winning a box supply of them, and in the photo, they do a close up of the product. RXBars are a neat product because they show all ingredients right on the front and this makes the giveaway even more effective. By seeing this, consumers are automatically getting a brand recognition of what RXbars look like.
